Salurate salivary test for pre-eclampsia

Pre-eclampsia, a major cause of morbidity and mortality, affects between 6%-8% of pregnancies, causing worldwide deaths of 76,000 mothers and 500,000 babies. Early detection is vital.

Salurate is the first universal screening and remote monitoring home test service for pre-eclampsia.

Using the Salurate device, the mother-to-be takes a sample of saliva then folds the device onto a test strip which changes colour dependent on the level of uric acid present. The mother-to-be uses a SmartPhone App to instantly transmit results to a database in the Cloud for interpretation and onward transmission to the Clinician.

Commercialisation is planned within 12 months.
