Elevators and escalators
A lift, or elevator in the USA, is a type of vertical transport equipment that moves people or goods efficiently between floors (levels or decks) of a building, vessel, or other structure.
Lifts are generally powered by electric motors that either drive traction cables or counterweight systems like a hoist or pump hydraulic fluid to raise a cylinder piston like a jack.
Escalators do move people between floors just like elevators, however, they move in both the vertical and horizontal plains, unlike elevators.

This is a 3D print of an escalator. Escalators are used around the world to move pedestrian traffic in places where elevators would be impractical.
They have the capacity to move very large numbers of people, usually without any waiting interval.
