Step 5 - event catering
Food brings people together, so work closely with your venue’s catering team to design menus that reflect your values and audience.
Everything you need to know when managing catering for your event
Confirm attendees’ allergies and dietary needs as part of this – and do so as early as possible so you can factor these requirements into menu planning (and ensure those who need adjustments don’t feel like an afterthought).

Catering is, of course, one of the most visible – and impactful - ways to reduce your event’s carbon footprint – and it’s something attendees really notice.
If you want to prioritise this at your event, you might want to ask these key questions:
- Does the venue offer plant-based options?
- What percentage of menu items are vegetarian/vegan by default?
- Is its produce seasonal and/or sourced locally?
- How is waste minimised across the catering process?
- How does the catering team minimise single-use packaging?
