How long have you worked at Savoy Place?
Eight years.
What does your role involve?
I look after the whole sales team, this includes training and answering any questions they have, as well as liaising with the other internal teams throughout the process of organising events. A typical day involves working with external companies to provide the best service for clients. I have regular catch-ups with my team to ensure they are working happily and proactively.
Favourite part about the job?
Working at Savoy Place allows me to work with a lot of different people who are inventive and creative with the space. The location and venue are also incredibly versatile.
Favourite room at Savoy Place?
The Maxwell Library as it has a good blend of modern and traditional elements. Also, the view of the River Thames is amazing from the room’s two balconies.
Favourite event?
The Waitrose Food and Wine Festival in 2016. They took over the whole building and created a different theme for each room. It was a lot of hard work for the team, but it was a fun event to host!
Another notable career highlight was Savoy Place’s involvement during the London 2012 Olympics where we became the House of Qatar.
Why work at Savoy Place?
Working for the IET during the Savoy Place renovation was challenging. However, it was an exciting opportunity to build a new team following the re-opening. It has exceeded all of our expectations. It is an extremely popular and sought-after venue.
What did you do before?
I’ve always worked in venues and hotels. I’ve been working in London venues for 10 years now.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy walking, and cycling and I'm trying to find a love of running. This supports my love of eating out and discovering new restaurants – my favourite so far would be Tom Kerridge’s Hand & Flower in Marlow.
