IET London: Savoy Place offers the versatility to create indoor and outdoor backdrops in central London for a range of filming projects.

From Made in Chelsea’s rooftop parties, to the Prime Minister’s political briefings, the venue and its experienced team are well versed in delivering excellence for your filming needs.

Location facilities

The venue is available for hire as a film location throughout the day:

Day hire: 8 am to 5 pm
Evening hire: 6 pm to 11 pm
Late/Early opening: from 11 pm to 7 am (subject to availability and supplement).

Accessibility for all: There are no problems getting your guests into the building thanks to our Sesame lift which allows stone steps to retract automatically for wheelchair access.

Extra lifts have been added to help smooth the flow of people through the building.

Wedmore Boardroom

For a James Bond-style MOD feel, our executive boardroom is the perfect solution with natural daylight and exceptional state-of-the-art AV equipment.

Recommended films sets for: CEO Office Board meeting, M15-style scenes, Alan Sugar (The Apprentice) Boardroom style setting.

Johnson Roof Terrace

With unparalleled views over the river and London skyline, the roof terrace is a popular location for photography and film set hire with a view of the London Skyline, with a capacity of up to 200 people.

Recommended film sets for: News broadcasts, advertising, fashion photoshoots, drinks reception scenes, London-centric location film/tv scenes.

Maxwell Library

The traditional grandeur of our library offers an institutional background in a large flat floor space with a high ceiling and two balconies overlooking the river, ideal for set building or for use in its existing aesthetic for a heritage library feel.

Recommended film sets for: Academic establishments, interviews, university library scenes, book launches.

Turing Lecture Theatre

Our smaller contemporary tiered auditorium comes readily available with comprehensive AV and technicians to create personalised branding around the stage.

Recommended film sets for: University lectures, cinema scenes, senior school teaching room.

Riverside Room

Natural light and exceptional views populate this large flat floor space, ideal for set building or for use in its existing design aesthetic with a luxury interior and recent investment in updated AV.

Recommended film sets for: Hotel, bar, restaurant-style scenes, award dinners.

Kelvin Lecture Theatre

Our largest heritage tiered auditorium offers an ideal backdrop for university-style lecture settings and conferences, blending traditional aesthetics with the latest technology and digital capabilities.

Recommended film sets for: TED Talk-style events, conferences, university lectures and assemblies, heritage cinema scenes.

Engineering Exhibitions

In the communal areas of the venue, the IET’s engineering exhibitions, including a display of 100 boxed inventions with underlighting, offer a suitable and innovative backdrop for educational filming, and particularly STEM content.
